Sunday, June 3 ... Slight set-back: Strikes by railworkers in France have delayed Gina a bit. It's rougher on her than on me since she's the one stuck with figuring out her options, which might be quite limited.
In the meantime, I'm settled into my hotel, enjoying what might be the last super comfortable accommodations for a while. While I wait to get an update from la sobrina en France, I'll wander around Pamplona a while.

Yesterday I was reading Joyce Rupp's book, Walk in a Relaxed Manner; she told about her first day on the Camino when an innkeeper said, "Your passport," and she handed him her U.S. passport. The guy had to tell her, no, he meant her pilgrim passport. Ha ha ha, so funny.
So this morning I'm at the hotel, switching rooms (from my single last night to the double tonight -- in hopes that Gina will be here) and I've said to the young dude at the counter, "Oh great, Camino credentials!" and he smiles and says yes, they can give me a stamp. And he says, "your passport, please," and I happily hand over my Camino passport because I read that Joyce Rupp story so I'm not going to make HER mistake! And he stamps my passport (see photo) and then he says, "your passport, please." And I look at him with confusion and he says it again: "Your passport. I need your passport to check you in."
I hope the weather cooperates. We are getting barrels and barrels of rain here. Travel well!
ReplyDeleteI love it. And the book title! A great metaphor for life. Thanks for posting these so we can follow along!
