Tonight was Molly's going away party. Guests: Patricia & baby Benjamin, Kimberly, Paulina, Rebecca, Sarah & Isaiah, Sr. Margaret Mary, Cindy, Julie, Brandt, Andrew W, Andrew N & Mickey, Jim R, Laura & Patrick, Hans & Yecenia, Uta, Bob F ... and I don't know who else. I am full of wine and beer and hummos and grapes and peanut butter bars. Now that I look at this list, I wonder who I am missing, because it feels like a lot more people were here.
I'm grateful to have space where people can gather. The living room is good space, with lots of seating, and it separates well from the dining area, where people can have different conversations. I do wish the kitchen was more comfortable ... Anne! Anne was here! I knew I was missing someone ...
This morning started with a walk down to the White House for the TASSC vigil. Good thing I was there when I was since no one else from the office was there, and they announced us. Argh. Embarrassing. As usual, I got antsy during the ceremony and ended up walking away. Unfortunately I have no patience for things like prayer services, especially when I'm not leading them; it's not a good trait. I can't *just* be a participant in those sorts of things -- I get bored or distracted or annoyed.
I walked back up 16th Street and cut over to 15th in order to go to Whole Foods -- I wanted to buy nice birthday cards. I ran into Gavin, who I haven't seen in probably three or four years, at least. (Well, I see him on Facebook.) We had a great little chat -- turns out he was in the boot camp group that was in Lafayette Park during the TASSC vigil.
Honestly, you can do ANYTHING in Washington, D.C.
